Getting Started
Install
Download the .dmg and open it. Drag PowerPic to your Applications folder, then launch it.
On first launch, macOS may ask to confirm opening an app downloaded from the internet — it’s safe to approve. The build is signed with the author’s Developer ID and notarized (Apple checked it for malicious software).
PowerPic lives in your macOS top menu bar — look for the icon in the upper-right of your screen.
If your menu bar is full, the icon may be hidden — hold ⌘ to rearrange or remove existing icons.
Permissions
PowerPic will ask you to enable the following permissions:
| Screen Recording | Required to capture your screen, requested on first capture; it will be applied after you quit and reopen the app. |
| Accessibility | Required only if you enable the “Override native screenshot (⌘⇧4)” option. |
| Input Monitoring | Required only for scrolling capture, which sends scroll events to the window. Requested the first time you use it. |
Capture an arbitrary region or full window
Select Capture from the app menu, or press ⌘⇧6 anywhere. Drag a rectangle over the area you want and release. The selected area opens in the PowerPic editor.
To capture an entire window instead, press Space during a capture — the window under your cursor will highlight — click to grab it (or press Space again to return to region selection).
Scrolling capture
To capture a whole scrollable page or document, not just what’s visible, switch to window mode with Space, hover the window, then ⇧-click. Wait for PowerPic to scroll the window automatically, grabbing a frame at each step, and stitching them into one tall image. Press Esc to stop early.
- The window comes to the front while it scrolls — leave the mouse and keyboard alone until it finishes.
- It stops when it reaches the bottom, and is capped at 40 steps, so endless-scroll pages end at a limit.
- If it can’t line up the frames confidently, it stops and keeps what it has stitched so far.
- Pages with fixed or sticky headers and footers, or animated content, may not stitch cleanly.
